Search Engines and Web Intelligence

In this lecture, we shall look into fundamentals of- and modern approaches to web information retrieval. We will discuss problems in web-scale data mining and trend analysis and study the analysis of social networks and Internet communities. Finally, we will have a quick look at semantic web technologies.

Speech Technology

In this lecture course on speech technology, there will be a strong focus on practical aspects. In the exercises, we will learn how to train, use, and optimise a state-of-the-art speech recogniser. More information for this course is in the blog.

Lab: Multimedia Analysis and Retrieval

Practical use of media analysis methods for audio, image and video data. Implementation of important algorithms by means of MatLab programming. Design and implementation of multimedia analysis and retrieval systems with help of state-of-the-art technology. The student work is organized in the form of exercises and project work.
